Every now and then, a medical study makes headlines with sweeping claims. These findings make for catchy sound bites and sexy blurbs. Without critical thought, a study can lead many astray as newspapers and news agencies are often seen as a high authority of truth. Today, that is becoming less and less the case.

For example, take yesterday’s widely run story that a recent study found consuming egg yolks to be more harmful than smoking.

That is not a typo – more harmful than smoking. Really?

The news story, if you can call it that, makes no mention of the study participants’ other dietary habits other than consumption of egg yolks. No mention of whether those egg yolks were hard-boiled eggs, omelettes or something like this.

Were they consuming highly-processed foods rich in Omega-6 fatty oils that promote systemic inflammation? Who knows? The study doesn’t say.

It’s hard to take these heavily biased “studies” seriously. For now, go ahead and keep eating real food.

That definitely includes eggs. Yolks and all.

I was feeling rebellious and edgy this morning. I was going to smoke a cigarette but then I decided to be a true rebel. I ate 3 fried eggs instead!

  2. Was fun and a good challenge! Just wish more people would have came to challenge me even more!!! Have fun all!
