Rest periods are included in workouts to ensure maximal output for every interval. The average person’s ability to deliver max effort in a conditioning workout diminishes after about 8 minutes. After this full effort is lost, movement breaks down and technique begins to degrade.
Be sure to take the prescribed amount of rest and allow yourself to recover as best as possible so that each interval is treated as a sprint.
