For the first time in CrossFit Games history, the previous year’s champ defended their title with Annie Thorisdottir coming out on top. Julie Foucher and Talayna Fortunato rounded out the podium finishers taking home second and third place respectively.
Then it happened again in the men’s event with Rich Froning repeating as champ. Perennial CrossFit Games competitor Matt Chan saw his first podium finish with an inspiring second place showing. Kyle Kasperbauer solidified his place in the CrossFit top tier with a third place finish.
Hack’s Pack Ute out of Ute CrossFit won the team Affiliate Cup after a timed relay of Elizabeth, Fran, Isabel, Grace, Diane and Karen. The first three parts of the workout were done by teams’ female athletes, while the last three were executed by the men. It was a winner-take-all event with the first team to finish taking the title.
Congrats to all the winners after a grueling 4 days of competition. It’s safe to say that those that were lucky enough to witness the fittest this weekend were left with at least a year’s worth of training inspiration until next year.
