New Service Week rolls on! Jeffrey will be administering his massage therapy services out of CFIV beginning Monday, June 18th as well. His therapeutic skills were key in allowing Carlie to keep charging up the standings during a long weekend of competition at Regionals last month.
Here’s a message from Jeffrey explaining the many benefits of his services:
Massage therapy is one of the best ways to optimize an athlete’s performance and to bring him/her to a healthier state. Massage therapy addresses physical issues like mobility, injuries, circulation, sore muscles, joint pain, structural imbalance, lymphatic circulation, digestive problems, cellulite and scar tissue build-up.
Massage therapy also brings emotional balance, psychological stability, and increase energy. Anyone can benefit from soft-tissue therapy but the serious athlete knows that direct manipulation of the connective-tissue is high on the priority list next to nutrition, stretching, mental-focus.
CrossFit training is more than just exercise; it is high-intensity strength and conditioning training. We work our muscles in ways that jolt our bodies into warrior mode. However, when the WOD is over and we return to a more sedentary lifestyle, the muscles we strengthened may still be tight; in other words left turned on. This tightening of the muscles pulls our tendons and ligaments and therefore our bones out of alignment, causing pain in places far from the true source. So that knee pain that is usually blamed on old age or arthritis could really be tight quadriceps pulling the tendons over the knee.
The reverse is also the case. Not only does the workout affect our daily affairs but our daily routines affect our workouts. Working on a computer 4-8 hrs a day hardens the tissue around the extensors in the forearms. If you experience pain in the wrist or elbow after a WOD with abundant arm activity then it is likely that the source is an adhesion of the extensor tissue to other tissue. Not only does this prevent one from higher athletic achievements but it is an impending injury.
Jeffrey’s training includes:
Structural Integration, Deep-tissue, Sports massage, myofascial-release, reflexology, Reiki, Swedish, Accupressure Tui-Na, PNF stretching, Lymphatic drainage.
